Now more than twenty years ago, I began a personal journey to make art that glorifies God; The Father, His Son Jesus, and Holy Spirit. The image of the cross became my passion and I have produced literally hundreds of works on the cross. Recently, I was praying about developing a new series of large paintings. In a dream, I heard these words: atmospheric pressure. With that direction, this scripture from The Message translation took on new meaning:

For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little patterns that they dictate. Can’t you see the central issue in all this? It is not what you and I do-it is what God is dong, and He is creating something totally new, a free life! Galations 6:14-16

These paintings are my exploration of atmospheric pressure of the physical, emotional, and spiritual world. I have always been fascinated by the sky, by cloud formations, storms, and weather patterns. Often, they parallel what I am experiencing in the spiritual atmosphere, and when I focus on the atmosphere of Heaven, atmospheric pressure decreases, and I am free. These paintings are narratives, even when the story isn’t evident. The one common element in all of my work is that each begins with a prayer acknowledging God’s presence in my art and my gratitude for the freedom to paint.
