About

Welcome to the Sanctuary Garden!

Barbie Hunt, has been creating art for as long as she remembers, which is a very long time. She has been a production art potter, a painter, a sculptor, and an assemblage artist ( a collector of old things made into art). Today she is painting on old hymnal music paper, collage paper, watercolor paper, canvas and on silk. Her hand painted PrayerSilks are widely collected for worship and prayer.

Barbie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and sculpture and two Master of Arts degrees in Ceramics and in English Literature. Beginning as a production potter, she managed Pennyroyal Pottery for six years, and for ten years served as director of the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts. In 1998, she returned to creating art and opened Barbie Hunt Studio next door to the Main Street Prayer Center and Healing Rooms where she is the Director along with her husband. She is also the founding Director of Healing Rooms Kids. A global equipping ministry of kids prayer teams led by Holy Spirit.

The Barbie Hunt Studio, offers Barbie’s peace filled art drawn from her faith journey and her love of flowers and all things garden. Her work is available here on line and in her little studio gallery next to Main Street Prayer Center at 113 East Center Street in Madisonville, Kentucky.

My newest series of paintings, The Sanctuary Garden Collection is in the studio and new works are coming. Sign up for my random newsletter email for the first notice of the release of new paintings. These watercolors and paintings have been a labor of love, inspired by quite moments in my new garden where the butterflies are coming to dance through the flowers and peace comes to my soul. My intent with these paintings is to create spaces of beauty and rest — visual sanctuaries where you can pause, breathe and remember the light.

As always my art is deeply connected to the Christian journey of faith. The Sanctuary Garden Collection invites you into a sacred garden for the soul and an encouragement to your spirit to pause and be present with Holy. And may you soar.” Blessings, Barbie
