It has been my privilege to pray with and to know women who have been trafficked, prostituted and abused; I have been soaked in their tears as they experience the extravagant love of God. As they come to know the love of Jesus for them and the forgiveness and freedom only He can give, they are changed forever. They are the most beautiful weeping roses in the garden.
This painting is one of my new series, “From my Sanctuary Garden” where I see the flowers as my connection from heaven to earth and my spirit connects with my soul and the canvas. In the garden, butterflies become stories of freedom I see in times of prayer with people, the bees are sharing the goodness from flower to flower as we do when we tell the good news of Jesus and the flowers display His extravagant love.
I pray, may you experience the wonder of His extravagant love.

This painting came from a time of being with other believers who encouraged me. I realized how vital it is that we stand with each other when the storms of life come against us. We need each other. Paul writes to the church to care for Timothy and goes on to say knowing they are standing firm on their faith in the Lord has encouraged him.
I pray this painting is one of those that will be an encouragement to the owner to spend time with Jesus and with people of prayer. May you feel alive again and may you be found standing.

The gingko tree is an ancient tree known as a “living fossil” for its distinctive fan-shaped leaves that turn a brilliant yellow in the fall here in Kentucky. It is known for its healing properties. I took that image and connected it to the cross. Because of the cross, I am a living fossil! We have an eternal spirit living inside this earth suit and we are called to shine like the gingko leaves do in the fall. Blessings! Barbie

Original acrylic and natural leaf collage (28.5 × 29 inches) framed with a bronzed wood frame. With layers of meaning, this painted gingko leaf was found under the trees at the courthouse down the street from my studio. The cross, boxed in by the layer of wrapped canvas on canvas, is released as the healing (gingko trees are known for their healing properties) increases. The colors enhance the concept of release as the gingko leaf is painted gold and gold is release in the cross.
This work came after reading and meditating on the story of Mephibosheth, the man crippled as a child. After King David was restored in his relationship with God, he wanted to show the same UNLIMITED mercy to someone as underserving as he. That is the message, the cross releases us into the UNLIMITED mercy, love and kindness of God.
